The Charlotte, a 20-storey residential tower in Canberra's Woden district, has reached its topping-out milestone, marking a significant achievement for developer Doma Group. This achievement is particularly notable as the Charlotte is not only the tallest building in the Doma Group's Woden precinct but also their tallest structure in Australia to date. The tower's design, characterized by its soft, curved corners and low-level brickwork, sets it apart from other nearby towers. The Charlotte is a sibling to the Melrose, another 20-storey tower designed by Stewart Architecture, and together they will add 207 one to four-bedroom homes to the Woden area. The Doma Group's Woden precinct, which includes the Bowen, Melrose, Charlotte, and the upcoming Hunter, will eventually house around 700 apartments. The Charlotte's construction has been a collaborative effort with construction partner Chase, and the topping-out ceremony, held on level 20, featured the traditional tree being craned into place. This event was a momentous occasion for the company, as Chris Farrington, Doma Development director, noted the Charlotte's significance as their tallest building in Canberra and Australia. The tower's design emphasizes residents' privacy, ensuring living spaces don't face each other, and it offers a range of amenities, including a landscaped terrace, a bookable lounge and dining space, a gym, a 25-meter pool, and a rooftop garden. The Charlotte's appeal extends to various market segments, with one- and two-bedroom offerings targeting first-home buyers, starting at $449,900 and $619,900, respectively. At the top end, a four-bedroom penthouse with 155 square meters of internal living space, double-car garaging, and sweeping views is available for $1.43 million. The tower's location in the town center, close to Westfield shopping center and employment hubs, makes it particularly attractive to younger buyers. However, the larger, more expensive apartments are also ideal for downsizers seeking a lock-up-and-leave lifestyle. Doma Group's commitment to understanding the car-focused nature of Canberra is evident in the Charlotte's five levels of parking, with three underground. The final stage of the Woden precinct, the Hunter, will include 216 apartments, with a social and affordable housing component, and is currently in the initial design phase. For those eager to move in, apartments in the Bowen are available from $459,900, offering a variety of configurations and aspects. Doma Group is also involved in other Canberra projects, such as delivering new office buildings in Barton, the Yarralumla Brickworks mixed-use development, and the Foothills residential project in Campbell. The Brickworks development will feature 380 high-end residences, 4500 square meters of retail and commercial space, a curated dining precinct, a gym, recreational facilities, a luxury day spa, and a landscaped nature reserve. Stage 1 of the Foothills project is under construction, with two architecturally designed buildings containing 136 apartments at the foothills of Mount Ainslie. The Charlotte's topping-out marks a significant milestone for Doma Group, showcasing their commitment to delivering high-quality, functional, and aesthetically pleasing residential developments in Canberra.
